JE Batch Creator in Excel

We recently had to start using Microsoft 365 so that the JE Batch Creator Add In would upload into FENXT. It's been working ok, until last week. Now, I can only use my JE Upload Excel file once. If I try to use it a second time, I get this error message.

I've moved my cursor everwhere I can imagine to no avail. I end up having to create a brand new excel workbook so I can upload my JE. Then I have to go to One Drive and delete all those “one-use” files. Do any of you have any ideas regarding what might be suddenly causing this problem? I googled it, but can't find anything.

  • I can't even get my JE batch creator add in to work anymore. :(

  • Are you using Microsoft 365 or something else?

  • I'm pretty sure its Microsoft 365, as that's what we are paying for on our monthly bills. Yup, I see Excel for Microsoft 365.

Does it have anything to do with the version of excel?

  • I don't think so. We just signed up for Microsoft 365 because the JE Batch Creator no longer works with Internet Explorer. Microsoft 365 was one of the solutions we were given to make the JE Batch Creator work again. It worked fine for a few months, and now it's giving me this weird error.

  • Following! I have always had to create a new spreadsheet for each journal entry.

  • Hmmm…that's interesting. I find it very annoying because it's not the easiest thing to delete a file in Microsoft 365. It took me a while to even figure out how to delete files…it's about 10 mouse clicks! Who ever thought that was a good idea?

  • I had this happen too… I thought maybe it was a one time thing and just need to reset spreadsheets. Augh,…. need to look into this some more.

  • I have reverted back to importing JE's through the database view.

  • We have had the same issue since sometime around April 6th. Same issue only seems to allow a one time use of a spreadsheet. If you save it and try to use again you get the Remove Cursor message. Opened a case with Blackbaud but it hasn't really gone anywhere..

  • I am having the same issue. After reading your post, I opened a new workbook and copied the JE over and it worked. Very frustrating. Have you been able to get around this yet?

  • I have figured out one thing that makes it a little easier. I discovered that after I successfully upload a JE, if I sign out of the Batch Creator (leave the excel file open), delete the worksheet that I was just using for the JE upload, add a new sheet to the workbook, and sign in to the batch creator, I can upload another JE. So basically, I don't have to create a whole new excel file to upload another JE, but I do have to sign out of batch creator, add a new sheet to the workbook, sign back in to batch creator, and I can upload another JE. I have to do this for each JE I want to upload. Still a bit of a pain, but a little better than creating a whole new file for each JE.

  • Has this still not been resolved?

  • @Bill Schneckenberg
Yes, when I switched to the updated version of Excel, this problem was resolved.
