Custom Report by Project

Hi,

Since the custom report writer went away, has anyone adopted an integrated solution with Financial Edge to assist with custom reports? I would like to be able to create Endowment Fund Reports (aka a specific format of a report per project, which is not otherwise available).

    One option that could be helpful for getting a customized report for your projects/endowments is to utilize the Chart Organizer, also called Visual Chart Organizer in database view. A chart template is a visual representation of all or selected accounts from the general ledger, that can be customized based on what presentation and data you need to report on. Then the Chart Template can be added to a financial report to establish the presentation of the data. Once in the financial report, say an Income Statement, you can set additional Filters, Formats, add Columns, etc. to further customize the report.

    Here is an example of Income Statement filtered by Department (an account segment) and each column is filtered by Project. This is set to a default Chart Template.

  • @Christina Imbriani Hi Christina, thank you for your reply. I am familiar with the Chart Organizer, but I don't think it will provide what I am looking for. I would like a report that combines both balance sheet and income statement information in a custom format, which also shows each project on a single page. Unfortunately, I have been unable to customize the Project reports to provide what I am looking for, but I will review the webinars to see if I'm missing something. Thank you.

    We're building out our annual endowment reports for donors with ReportingXpress, along with a few other custom reports. So far they've been great to work with and the have a lot of options for customization. Worth a call or demo to see if they can meet your needs.

  • Hi @Laura Vaughan, thanks for the follow up. Have you tried working with the Custom Management Report yet?

    The Custom Management Report is a combined view of both balance sheet and income statement accounts. It could offer the flexibility you need to get by combining balances across an entire chart template. You can access this report in webview.

    When running the Report, play with the options within Content and especially Format.

    Here is a preview of the layout run with a Default chart template and leaving the Content and Format as is.

  • @Christina Imbriani Thank you. I have played with this as well, but I am wanting a report with each project presented vertically on a single page. This is to send endowment fund updates to donors.
