Art Museum - Adding art donations as gifts?

How do art museums handle donations of art in RE? We currently add an action describing the donation and an attribute listing the donor as a “Donor of Art”. Does anyone also enter the artwork as a gift? If so do you assign a monetary value? Thanks for any feedback!

    That's a great question. In Kind gifts seem pretty straightforward, but then, whenever I talk about them with my accounting team, I walk away wondering why the accounting rules are the way they are.

    Since my understanding is so tenuous, I'd hate to steer you wrong. You may want to reach out to Kaytee Yantis-Houser at the Dayton Art Institute. They're using Altru, not RaisersEdge, but they may be able to share how they handle those In Kind situations.

    We never entered gifts of art as a gift. Instead we created attributes for Donations of Art in the donor's record. We could pull a query that would give us the info depending on what we needed.
