Opportunities Question

Hi. We are just back to using Opportunities in NXT after a few years as our staff has turned over entirely. I'm fairly new to RE/NXT so I'm not sure how to manage these.

When I look at our Opportunities in RE we have 402 showing. Most of these are old and either listed as funded or declined, etc. How do we get them out of the list so they are no longer showing as active opportunities in our portfolios? Do we mark them as inactive? Is there a status that makes them go away from the list? Or do we just always have them once they are created and we just need to sort them in a way that the active ones come up in our portfolios?

Thanks.

Len

I think it depends on how you label proposals. (For example, we mark completed ones in the Status field.) Ultimately, I don't think there is any one-setting-applies-to-all feature like there is for Inactive phones. However, in NXT you have the filter options below:

The settings here are NXT's default filters. As you can see, the Inactive filter is not included unless you deliberately opt it in. Regardless of whether you filter by Inactive or Status, you will have to instruct your fundraisers to adjust their filter settings.

I believe it's valuable to be able to view past proposals, for the sake of performance comparisons and donor timelines, so that's why NXT allows all proposals into the list view.

@Len Gutman My advice, do the opportunities in the Database View, where you can make them inactive, which to my knowledge does not exist in RE NXT. You can always export those old opportunities/proposals in a CVS file, mark them all inactive and import that info back into Database View. RE NXT is just too limited plus it is not a finished product.

  • @Len Gutman you can mark an Opportunity inactive in NXT…you just need to open the opportunity record…you cannot do it in edit…hope that helps

@Faith Murray Great reply. I've been working with my fundraisers to consistently use the Deadline field and that is our primary indicator for current Opportunities.
