Showing assigned fundraisers in a dashboard insight

Hello, everyone!

I have built a dashboard listing all of our gifts received within a certain time range, complete with constituent information on each row (name, ID, etc.). So far, so good! However, our team desired that each row should also list the fundraiser assigned for that constituent. By this point, the "fundraiser" name column was "hidden" in the report builder, not allowing me to access it (I'm still not actually sure what the rationale is for NXT revealing or hiding specific fields for building a report).

Therefore, I built the report again from scratch, making sure I could use "fundraiser name" before it got hidden (however, when I chose it, NXT hid other fields that I wanted to use, like "Pledge Installment Balance," for some reason).

That's where I hit another complication: As long as the report is purely about constituent data, "fundraiser name" gets its data from the fundraiser assigned to the constituent (located in the "assigned fundraiser" tab). But the moment any gift data is added to the report, like "gift amount" or "gift date," the "fundraiser name" field points to the fundraisers assigned to the gift, not the constituent.

What we'd really like to see is the name of the fundraiser assigned to the constituent record, even if the report is listing gift info. Is that possible? Does anyone have any wisdom to impart to a new guy like me?

Thanks a lot!

  • I don't have a solution for you, but we share your disappointment that this limitation exists. It seem insights follow much the same logic as Lists in NXT, where there is distinct separation between Gift and Constituent lists. It would be a huge win if there were more crossover introduced in this area. There is one Idea in the idea bank that I found for constituent fundraiser specifically. It's RENXT-I-3425. Voting is our best course of action for some of these issues.

  • Thanks! My coworkers and I all voted for the idea.
  • @Ken Willey Dissapointing to see that this is still a problem, 2 years later. Glad you documented what happened because I've been going crazy trying to find the fundraiser option.
