Page Design Changes Lost in Service Pack

We updated a page spec (for application user) with a custom tab and it was lost after upgrading to SP32. We've made lots of page design changes and this is the first time I'm aware of them getting lost after a service pack is applied. I thought that page design changes were preserved during a service pack installation. Interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this.

  • @Vicki Goodwin Yes, we also experienced this at UNC. The latest SP has a lot of updates on the app user page. We had to redeploy all of our customizations on that page, which is not common for an SP upgrade.

  • @Kelli Crispin Thanks for the response Kelli. I think this is the first time we've been impacted by the issue. We ended up creating a query so we could look at the date changed on page specs.

  • @Vicki Goodwin what sort of customizations does this affect?

  • @Lisa Fields Well, for us it was all of cour customizations on the application user page. We disabled some existing actions (add role, edit role, delete role) and added custom actions to replace them. We also add our own custom “Mark Inactive” action.

I think the upgrade reloaded the page spec instead of using alterpages to modify it., so basically anything you customized on it was wiped out.

  • @Rick Root
Was it only that page? We are now starting to collate and document all customisations just in cade!

  • @Lisa Fields We are live on SP32 and have been for a week or so now. We did not find any other issues like this during testing or since going live.

  • @Vicki Goodwin, I'm guessing y'all probably edited CRM through via the front end but in the off chance you edited via a customization, you should be able to reload whatever spec altered the existing page and it should re-add everything.

  • @Rick Root @Steve Finnell We installed SP33 and didn't have any issues with page updates.
