Past students show as active in OneRoster data

We were just made aware that if a past/withdrawn student in Blackbaud still has an enrollment row for the current school year, they will continue to show up in the OneRoster user data as an active/enabled user. There is no withdraw date in that file so there isn't a good way to determine who is actually a current student or not. We were hoping to use OneRoster for our AD integration to create student records because the school level data is cleaner than SKY API when it comes to students having class enrollments at multiple sites. But, with the data currently available in OneRoster we're not sure how to appropriately disable student accounts during the school year as they withdraw.

Is there an alternative suggestion or workaround?

    There is a new SKY API user enrollments endpoint that delivers students enrolled for a given year. It will return a student withdrawn mid-year, but it will also include the depart date and reason. You can also filter the list by school level and/or grade level.

    The endpoint is in beta for the next few months, but, as of Tuesday 10/11, the results returned should look like this.

    @Stephen Boyle Thanks for the information, Stephen. However in this instance we are using OneRoster, not SKY API.

    Sorry for the partial post. I thought I had commented on the OneRoster plan as well.

    We will change the output of OneRoster students/users to exclude students with a depart date on their enrollment for the year that is past the current date. That work is in our backlog, but I don't have a date for what release it would be in.

    @Stephen Boyle Hi Stephen - do you have an update for when the withdrawn students will no longer show on OneRoster exports? I just ran a OneRoster export and I see that they are still in there. Our situation is we have students who have withdrawn at the semester, and as we are getting ready for all-school testing with the autosync with the College Board (via Clever), the College Board is seeing all our withdrawn students. Curious if there is any additional information on this update.

    Good morning. Now that our Clever integration work has wrapped up, we are catching up on several issues like this that have lingered. Right now it is scheduled to start work on 3/1, so it should be in one of the releases shortly after that. I will keep you posted.

    @Stephen Boyle Thank you for the update. I appreciate it! I look forward to having this feature in place. Now that the legal first names are coming out with that option added last week, this appears to be the final thing that needs to be resolved for the low-level synching that we are currently doing.

    @Stephen Boyle Hi Stephen - do you have any update on a timeline for when the withdrawn students will no longer show up in our Clever synchronization? Or a way that we can customize it in the OneRoster export section?

    This should be happening now, as of a couple weeks ago (I should have updated this thread, sorry). For Current year exports, any student with a depart date on their enrollment row that is in the past will get a status of tobedeleted, instead of active.

    @Stephen Boyle Got it - I completely missed that my Clever now has the correct number of students. I was looking for it in the weekly Blackbaud update letter and I must have missed it.
