RENXT Portal: Discovery on Consent in portal

Hi all. I'm the product manager for RENXT Portal and am exploring adding Consent into portal as an available feature. I'm looking for customers who may benefit from this feature to get some feedback via a 30-minute web meeting. If this interests you, please reach out to me here or at lacey.kruger@blackbaud.com.

Thank you!

I would be interested in seeing this added functionality. I think it is important to make it as easy as possible for donors/prospects to update their information on their own. I would be interested in discussing this further.

    Thanks

    Mark

@Mark Bezanson thanks, Mark! I'll reach out via email.

  • Hi @Lacey Kruger, I am definitely interested in this. We don't want to overload our online donation forms with options, so would appreciate an alternate way to get this information from donors.

  • Hi @Lacey Kruger, I am also interested in this. I have a few other ideas about portal. I have already posted an idea to receive votes. Anymore information would be great!

  • Hi @Lacey Kruger - has there been any movement on this? We'd like to be able to offer multiple consent options for constituents to choose from.

    Using NXT for email. thx

@micah toop, we don't have a definitive timeline on when we'll be able to release this yet, unfortunately. There is a SKY Portal Add-in available now that allows portal users to update Consent that relies on Microsoft Power Automate. Here's a Community Post where our developer describes how to to use it. Hope this might work for you in the meantime. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions: lacey.kruger@blackbaud.com

    thanks!

  • @Lacey Kruger - Great info - that's an option we will explore. We have internal RE naming/organization work to do before we can have people use the portal, though.

Do you know of any other ways that NXT users are allowing constituents to edit consent (outside of the consent block on event forms)? Ideally (before we transition over to using the portal) we'd like to include an “update email preferences” link at the bottom of all outgoing marketing emails, which would take people to a form where they could select options based on the consent business rules we are setting up. thx

@micah toop You could, in theory, create a “free” event just to capture Consent preferences. The user experience would be clunky though. I have heard of customers using external forms to capture Consent too, but don't have details on how that has gone.

If you decide to go the Portal route, note that each area of Portal can be enabled/disabled so if you're not ready to open up Giving History or Recurring Gift Management to your constituents, you could only use the Profile feature for now. If you have questions about this, let me know. I'd love to stay in touch to hear what you land on. happy to answer any more questions you have too. thanks!

  • @Lacey Kruger It looks like the portal would be the most logical place for the consent, with the other account info. Before we start looking at that option:

    A. is there any native web-based NXT tool for capturing/updating multiple consent options? (want to make sure we're not missing a simple solution before we go down a different path)

    B. could a third-party add-on to the Portal be impacted when the Portal features are updated in future NXT builds?

    C. If we do use the Portal option, is there any way in NXT to update either the Unsubscribe block in email, or the Unsubscribe page? (so we could offer the Portal as an option other than unsubscribe)

If this is outside of your scope or too much like a support request, feel free to say so and we can open a ticket. Thanks

@micah toop, apologies that I missed this! I would suggest going through Support to see if you have other product options for collecting Consent.

I will share that when we add Consent to Portal, it will be a new feature you'll need to enable so you'd just wait to enable it until you'd disabled your add-in. Any data collected via the add-in would remain intact and then you'd just start collecting that consent data via the new feature.

RE: the Unsubscribe block in email, I can explore getting an “Edit preferences” link added to that as an option for customers who want to capture consent in portal. I don't think that bit would be available if you go the add-in route.

Hope that helps - apologies for the delay!

  • @Lacey Kruger Is the consent module not available yet for the Portal in Canada? I don't see where to add it, and this is our main reason for using Portal. As it is we are having issues getting the proper consent with Quesbec's new privacy legislation and this would help a great deal.

@Marissa Stimpson unfortunately, Consent is not yet available in Portal for any region. As mentioned earlier in this thread, there is a SKY Portal Add-in available now that allows portal users to update Consent that relies on Microsoft Power Automate. Here's a Community Post where our developer describes how to to use it. Hope this might work for you in the meantime. I can't see any reason why this wouldn't work for Canada, but please do let me know if you find any gaps so I can be sure they're addressed when we roll out this feature in the future.

  • Hello @Lacey Kruger - thanks for sharing this about email consent on the portal. We have been using the NXT Email for a while and having challenges in relation to segmenting and wider consent options.

Can I ask a couple of things:

    1. Is there any way of also adding a postal, phone and SMS consent option to the portal in a similar way?
    2. I had until now understood that the NXT Email system only allowed people to opt out of everything - so would setting this up and linking this portal page to an unsubscribe button on emails then give the option for people to opt out of certain types of email and so give us more scope for segmenting emails using NXT Email?

    Many thanks in advance!

  • Hi Lacey,

Just to flag, another essential thing we need in the Portal is the ability for UK donors to make or update their gift aid declaration!

    Thanks :)
