Recurring Gift Reporting in NXT Web Insights/Dashboards

Hi all,

New to RE NXT and discovering the limitations in the reporting in the Web View Insights/Dashboards. I am trying to report on the Active Recurring Gifts and there doesn't seem to be the option to filter on the Gift Status so the insights are including all Recurring Gifts even if they are Completed or Terminated. Am I missing the Gift Status field or if it isn't available has anyone figured out how to report only on Active Recurring Gifts?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The words “report on” when it comes to Raiser's Edge are loaded. What do you want to report?

I wanted to report the total amount of Recurring Gifts that are in an Active Status. Right now if I had one Recurring Gift for $100/month that is Status=Active and one Recurring Gift for $50/month that is Status=Terminated, when I go into reporting Insights to get the total Recurring Gift, I was adding the Gift Amount field with a filter of Gift Type=Recurring Gift. I did not see that I could also add a filter for Gift Status = Active so when I run the report it gives me total as $150 and I want the total to only be $100.

Thank you very any help you can provide.

@Kerry Kelleher are you using Insight Designer in webview? Unfortunately, I don't have access to that so cannot help as readily. None of my clients are using it.

I do have a level of distrust with the reporting in webview. Some of that is definitely my lack of knowledge and I own that. But even when I try to drill in and be confident in what is being displayed or calculated, I can rarely reconcile it with what I pull directly in database view. I simply do not have the time to go through that process.

If I needed to know this information, I would create a gift query in database view. You would not see a total of the active recurring gifts without exporting to Excel and running a total, but that method gives me greater confidence in the accuracy. Just be careful about what you add to the output, since you could potentially duplicate information.

In the meantime, hopefully someone with Insight Designer and background with pulling this data is able to help out!

Thank you. I know I am just trying to figure out how the Web view reporting works and am definitely making sure it ties to the Database view reporting. I believe I found an insight that provides me with what I want - it is called Gift Projected Amount. I was able to tie it out to the Cash Flow Report in Database view so I feel a bit better about it. But overall I am disappointed in the lack of functionality in the Web Insight building.

  • @Kerry Kelleher Just want to bump this post! I found it because my organization would like to see recurring gift insights like how many new recurring gifts we receive due to an appeal. Bummer that there isn't a way to do this easily. I guess I'm off to the idea bank (if you want to join me:
