Trying to connect Power BI to NXT
I have built the connector and i am getting the message it is connected to the application. However before i connect i get this error “this Application is not compatible with any of the solutions in your Blackbaud environment” I don't know what that means.

Hi, @Nichole Greaves. Sorry that the message is unclear. The Connect dialog shows the access that the application is requesting in your Blackbaud environment (e.g. “Read access for the RE NXT APIs” or “Write access for the Education Management APIs"). If the application has requested access that isn't compatible with your environment (e.g. your environment doesn't have RE NXT), then you'll receive this message.
As far as your application, I've looked into it, and it appears to still be set to “No data access,” meaning that the application wouldn't be capable of calling SKY API. You'll simply need to set its access in "My Apps" and connect (or reapprove) the application in the Marketplace. You can read more about access modes here.
We'll take a look at improving our documentation and consider a better message for the Connect dialog.

HI, @Chris Rodgers Thank you. I think your advice fixed the problem but I am not sure. No more errors. According to the video directions I should be able to go into Power BI Desktop and click get data/more and search Blackbaud. Nothing happens.
When I try to link to the folder where the connector is stored in doesn’t give me anything but date hierarchy. How can I tell if its set up properly and its me vs I still don’t have it set up?

@Chris Rodgers Hi, I'm having a similar issue. I have created the custom Power BI Connector in my applications. Power BI Desktop is reading and connecting to the application (“Get Data > Blackbaud (Beta)”). The Display Options for Constituents, Events, Fundraising etc. all contain the error message "Expression.Error: Access to the resource is forbidden." And I have updated the App to "Full data access". Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey @Peter McKay, did you conn yoir application to your Blackbaud environment through the Marketplace?

@Peter McKay Hey Peter, I just checked on your application, and it does appear to be connected (to answer Matt's question). However, it appears that the application was connected with “No data access” prior to you changing the application to “Full access.” Access changes don't automatically take effect on you environment connections; the environment admin must approve the change in the Marketplace. You can read more about access changes here:

@Nichole Greaves Hi, Nichole. I see that your application is now set to Full access, so that's good progress. I don't see any authorization attempts from your application. Are you missing an authorization step with the connector?

@Chris Rodgers Thank you! I was able to update the scope in Manage Applications Marketplace.

@Chris Rodgers Hi Chris…I am having the same issue as Peter McKay…and I am the envir admin but I am unable to update the scope for my Power Bi Connector…thoughts?

I checked your developer account, and I think there are two steps you'll need to take.
1. Your application is still set to “No data access.” You'll need to update your access configuration there.
2. I don't see your application connected to your environment. Once your application's access is set, you'll need to go to the marketplace's manage page and connect that application using your application Id.

@Chris Rodgers Hi..Thank you Chris..I totally missed the Edit Scope there and went to Manage in the Marketplace. I did change the access and connected the app but when I go to power bi I still get that message forbidden access….thoughts?

@Marisa PhirangeeGentles Everything looks right as far as the application and the connection goes, but I do see requests from your application with a 403 for insufficient scope/access. It's possible that the connector obtained an access token while the connection was still in the “No data access” configuration. Can you try again? Your previous access token should have expired, and your new token should use the current access configuration.

@Chris Rodgers Good Morning! I just tried it and it worked! Thank you!! Is there a way to connect this to BB Enrollment Mgt? to the SIS?

@Chris Rodgers Hi Chris sorry, I was out on a two week vacation. I set up authorization keys in the Client_ID.txt, Client_secret.txt and Subscription_key. txt. I can no longer check the MEZ file but should i redo this step and create a new MEZ file?

@Chris Rodgers Hi Chris. With the support of our IT team i have rebuilt the connector for the third time. It is still not showing up in Power BI. We are also getting the following error. “Uncertified Connector The following connector has not been certified and we are unable to verify that it is secure to use: Blackbaud If it was provided by a vendor, please request tha they contact Microsoft about the Certified Connector program. If you would still like ot use it, please enable a lower data extension setting under the security tab in the options dialog, and restart Power BI Desktop” Do you know why or what to do next. IT is not willing to lower the data extension setting.

@Nichole Greaves Hi, Nichole. The Power BI connector is an open source project and provided as-is. Because you are building and installing this connector yourself as a custom data connector, it is not certified. As mentioned in step 3 of the installation guide, if you wish to use your custom connector, you'll need to enable “(Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validation or warning.”
We do not currently have plans to create a Certified Power BI connector (like we have for the Microsoft Power Platform). If you are not comfortable managing your own custom connector, we do have partners who can build one for you.
