Needs Attention

Can someone tell me why my “Needs Attention” section does not show any recent payments? The only way I know that someone has made a payment is when it hits the bank. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

@Karen Avery Hi Karen! Needs attention will show you items that you need to take special action on like unapplied payments/credits and any failed payments. There is a Recent payments tabs where you can view payments for the last 30 days (by default). As students are making payments via the payer portal, they will show up here and you'll be able to see their processing status from Blackbaud Merchant Services. Hope this helps!

  • @Julia Meseck Thank you, Julia. That helps. I will watch the “Recent Payments” tab for new payments. My understanding is that new payments should also show up under the “Needs Attention” section in the Overview tab as they would not yet be applied to a student's account. Is that correct?

@Karen Avery That's exactly right. As students are making payments though, they should be getting automatically applied to their charges that make up the amount due. If they don't though, they will appear on the Needs attention tile for you to manually apply.

  • @Julia Meseck Wow, Julie. Thanks for that bit of information. I guess that hasn't happened with the payments we've received because we don't yet have any charges posted to the students accounts. We've only received application fees and security deposits for FY2024. We've posted the charges when we've posted the payments received.

Have you used Billing Management for some time? We're just now trying to set it up and implement it for the fall semester. We have been using Empower. I am a little apprehensive about the whole process. We've run into things not working and issues almost every time we try to use it.

We're also implementing SIS, Raiser's Edge, Power Faids and Bank Cards at the same time. Not my idea of fun!

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.
