Constituent Summary Note Field

Can anyone point me to the API call that allows me access to the Constituent “Summary Note”

Initially look in the API reference tells me the field is not available.

Looking deeper, it seems this field is actually recorded in RE database view as a specific Note Type:

However, if you were to try to get all Note for a single constituent, this note does not show up, so either the SKY API endpoint for all note for single constituent hasn't pick up the “note” yet, or it is filtering out the RE NXT Summary note type (I think is the latter). I will re-try the all note for single constituent again in a few hours and report back my finding.

I think it is OK that Blackbaud endpoint for all note for single constituent filter out the RE NXT Summary note type, AS LONG AS Blackbaud specifically provide an endpoint that give us this note, but I haven't find it.

Additional trying of other API:

If you use the get all note for ALL constituent API endpoint, the RE NXT Summary note also does not get returned, also filtered, or also has a delay, will find out in a few hours.
if you use the get single note by note id (I have to go into database view to open the properties of the RE NXT Summary note to find it's ID), then the note does get returned.

For now, it still looks like no proper way to get what OP wants

Reporting back, so there is no delay, both get all note single and all constituent does not return the RE NXT Summary note. This is a documeentation bug to not mention this. I will report it to see if developer willing to change the default filtering out of RE NXT Summary behavior or add to the documentatiopn that it will not show this note type

@Alex Wong GET Note Types does NOT return RE NXT Summary and when you're trying to use POST Note endpoint with RE NXT Summary as a note type, it comes back with an error, so it looks like it's something Blackbaud overlooked.

I don't think Blackbaud “overlooked”.

This is likely an “intention” feature of this specific note type that it is “set and get” outside of "normal note", however, there weren't any endpoint to actually get or set it. (I can understand why and the initial thinking that went into the constituent note endpoints)

@Ben Wong or @Anthony Gallo (or other Blackbaud developer that may be on Community strolling around… can we either (1) allow this specific note type to be include in the get/set of constituent note or (2) have new get/set endspoint specific for this note type?

Only 15 votes in the idea bank for this as of this writing. I hope to get more votes on the idea that @Szymon Zaleski created.

We rely on this information for what one needs to know before they pick up the phone with a constituent. Being able to include it in a profile created directly from the web view is important for my organization. We currently have to rely on the database view for profiles.

Hi @Elizabeth Johnson - While I agree it would be nice to retrieve from the Notes endpoint, you can get this today through query and filtering on the note type of ‘RE NXT Summary’.

you can retrieve it, but you can't add or update a note with a type “RE NXT Summary”.
