Annual disbursements from a Planned Gift/Trust

We just started using the Planned Gift Module and I am working to be sure all receivables are in before end of fiscal year. It occurs to me as I'm setting up a gift that will distribute $10K annually following the passing of a donor who had setup a trust. How do you record this as a Planned Gift? Do an expected/projected amount of $10K every year or do one and add the realized revenue every year?

  • @Wanda Cockey I would just add one planned gift with notes in it indicating that it's perpetual at $10k/year, and then add realized revenue against that every year when it comes in.

@Wanda Cockey, Ditto what Ryan said, but also make sure your vehicle is unique for trusts that distribute a perpetual remainder. We recently went through cleanup for our audit prep, and that was one of the things we realized, that we want to have the perpetual ones on a different report than the one-time bequest gifts. Assigning a unique Vehicle allows you to filter in your reports as needed.
