Google Classroom and Google Assignments

Can someone speak to how they use Blackbaud with Google Classroom and/or Google Assignments? We are new to Blackbaud and are current Google Classroom users. I see the documentation and mentions of using Clever for rostering connections. I am wondering if someone in this community can share resources or screencasts on how it works from a teacher's perspective. Thanks!

    @Susan Murray - you can't use Google Assignments with Blackbaud…yet. It may or may not work in the future.

    Teachers can create an assignment in Classroom, and then add the link to the Classroom assignment in an LMS Assignment. Teachers have to decide if they want students to submit the work through Classroom or as an upload to the LMS assignment.

    It's not seamless, but it can work.

    Hi @Susan Murray -

    Google Assignments is compatible with our LMS, but you'll have to configure an LTI 1.1 connection. I will note that this connection does not link assignments from the LMS to Classroom, rather it allows the teacher to leverage the tools that Google Assignments has to be used with our LMS.

    Here is some documentation on the existing Google Assignment integration.

    As for the Google Classroom integration, that is currently done via OneRoster and Clever. Effectively, the OneRoster file is pulled out of our system, synced to Clever and then so long as your instance of Classroom is also synced to Clever, it'll update rostering information. This connection does not yet have the ability to sync Grading information, however.

    There is also a separate Google Drive integration that is available. It is mainly used when the Blackbaud LMS is the main LMS being utilized, but you want to allow students to submit work from their Google Drive. We have some plans to flesh this out a little further this school year to allow teachers to pull from their Drive when adding Assignments. More to come, but below you can find the documentation for the existing integration.

    That article goes over what Teachers can expect from the Clever + Classroom integration. Towards the bottom of the page, they also have training deck that basically puts the information on the page into a slides for you.

    @Michael Morrissette What if you don't use Clever? Is there any other way to sync rosters into Google Classroom?
