Insight Designer - possible to filter by fundraiser type?

I'm trying to assist our prospect researcher pull data/dashboards using insight designer but it is definitely not my knowledge area.

One thing she has said is not possible is to just pull records by solicitor/fundraiser type. We want to just pull those with type of “Primary” but she said it is pulling all types. I started to look at creating an insight and decided instead to find an expert in the community who would know. So, any one know if it's possible and if so how to do it?

Thanks.

  • @JoAnn Strommen I am not working with anyone using Insight Designer, but I'd be a little surprised if it isn't possible. I'd be surprised because it is possible with Report Designer, and I've used it to set up a “get” dashboard for the board of directors.

I could be completely wrong, since what seems obvious with any Blackbaud product is often not the case!

  • @JoAnn Strommen Not to be a downer, but any time I've been in a situation where I “just want to do XYZ,” I've found that Insight Designer/Report Builder can't do it. I did a quick test and couldn't find an option for this. I could be wrong though - I'm sure others have much more experience RB/ID than I do.

  • Hi @JoAnn Strommen

I think I see what you're trying to do here and it sounds like the filter in insight designer you're looking for is Constituent > Constituent fundraiser type.

There are a couple of ways you can represent your info with this data type. I put one together for you as an example where the fundraiser type is a filter you can turn on.

I am struggling to exactly the same thing! You can put a filter on the dashboard for Fundraiser type or you can put it into the insight as a filter. It is very confusing.

I am also trying to filter by classification. The insight and the filter provide Constituent Classification but I need to filter on Constituent Prospect Classification. This seems to be two different things but I can't figure out where Constituent Classification is pulling from.
