Classy Connector Feedback

I'm looking for feedback from anyone who uses Classy Connector with Omatic. We saw the demo, which looked great, but I realize that there are pain points with everything and want to make a decision with our eyes wide open. When I asked our account rep for references that I could speak with, it was explained that “once your team is in favor of moving forward, I can introduce you to an available client for you to speak with.” That was a bit of a pink flag for me, especially since I don't want to lock into a 3-year agreement before hearing about any of the challenges in addition to the benefits.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can share their experience and opinion with me.

We use IOM for our Luminate Online processing, using the LO connector. While not exactly the same (Classy connector), I can they work simliarly.

Our experience is mostly good with LO connector, at the end of the day, the connector is just a “quicker” way to process donation from the another platform into RE. The “quicker” means you do not have to login to Classy, download a transaction list, and then process in IOM by loading that transaction list. Instead, you skip 2 steps, where you don't need login to Classy, download transaciton list. This is done for you by the Classy connector. The processing through IOM will then be the same, where you have a IOM profile that is configured by you to process the transaction in the way you want it with dictionary translation, virtual field, custom code (if you are hosted by Blackbaud, custom code is not allowed UNLESS your create your custom code in a local/standalone RE, send the code to Omatic and have them validate the code, giving you a “access key” to then import into IOM), etc.

    Hope this helps

  • @Tina Pappas We've been using Omatic with Salesforce and it works well. We're transitioning from Salesforce to connecting directly between RE and Classy with Omatic. One area of opportunity (wondering if anyone has any guidance on this) is that deposit dates in Classy don't seem to carry over via the Omatic Connector so if you're reconciling RE batches with bank statements, you need to find a work around since the transactions come over when they're processed rather than when the lump sum deposits are happening. We're still exploring how to be address this issue, but if you have any ideas, let us know!

  • @Alex Wong my understanding is that each ‘connector’ is sold separately by Omatic and carries an annual fee. is that correct?

Thanks, Alex! I really appreciate the feedback.

  • @Edward Wagner Thank you so much for the feedback and the head's up about the post date. That very helpful to know going into the process.

each connector is a sepearate contracted item that you pay for, annually or not is something you work out with Omatic.

  • @Edward Wagner When I was with Zeidman Development, I encountered this with customers using several of the API connectors. Some partner companies included the deposit date in their API and others didn't. If you haven't already, I would recommend asking both Classy and Omatic about the deposit date. It might be something that needs to be addressed on both sides (if it is possible).

We are researching the Classy Connector for one of our clients, so the info in this thread is so helpful. Our client's Omatic rep shared a case study and a Classy Connector datasheet with us…neither had much substance at all. They also shared two videos; I don't know if these will help you but here are the links:

Classy Connector video overview for Raiser's Edge database view

Classy Connector video overview for RENXT webview

  • @Madeleine Holdsworth Thank you so much for sharing these videos.

  • @Christine Robertson Thank you – we're still working to get it figured out but hopeful they can make it work!
