Something like Venmo but not Venmo!

Does Blackbaud RENXT work with any third-party company similar to Venmo? It is nice to give our donors options when checking out at say, a Fundraising event and Venmo is a popular one as it's super quick and easy; however, it would be nice if there was a company that worked with Blackbaud so the funds/donor info could go straight from their platform into ours. Thank you.

@Joy Kean - Have you looked into the PayPal Integration with Blackbaud Checkout? It enables donors to utilize your forms but pay with PayPal or Venmo - the transaction information comes into your system as normal.

@Joy Kean Other than straight card payments, PayPal and Venmo are working well for us. Records of payments come in directly. Requesting the funds just an extra step.

  • @Joy Kean Take a look at Venmo charity profiles. It’s a great way to get donations at events quickly using a QR code. We recently used the QR code at a golf outing and got great feedback on having it as an option.

  • @Austen Brown I've done this but all of our transactions come in through our PayPal business account, not through BBMS. Is there a way for them to come in through BBMS? I didn't think that was possible.

@Paige Morabito - PayPal owns Venmo, therefore all transactions will run through your PayPal Business Account. The benefit of the integration is that you are able to offer these additional payment options on your donation forms and the gift information comes directly into your system.

  • @Austen Brown Ok, that's what I thought. Thanks!

  • @Brandon Stein Brandon, was your org able to successfully create a Venmo charity profile? We've tried on/off through the year and hit roadblocks every time (on the Venmo side). There's always an error in doing so and I've not met another org that had luck in creating one either. Just curious if anyone out there was able to do it (and what they did)!

  • @Bobby Steurer Yes, I was able to create a charity profile. I did have to link it to my personal Venmo account (which is both weird and stupid). If you log into your PayPal business account, go to Business Tools > Search Venmo Charity Profiles and then click get started. Then I logged in with my personal account and setup the charity profile handle and description.

  • @Bobby Steurer
Our org has also been able to set up a charity profile and it has been very popular, especially while tabling. We have a small sign with a QR code that opens up our profile in the person’s Venmo app.

  • @Brandon Stein Dude, I don't know what's happened between all the times I tried earlier in the year and now, but we finally got it. It's wonky, like you said, but done. Thank you so much for the advice on getting in. Seriously, been trying to scratch that off my to-do since January.

  • @Bobby Steurer Awesome!

Also- to anyone who wants to put a button or link on their donation page, you can use this code to open the Venmo app and start a gift to your charity profile: venmo://paycharge?txn=pay&recipients=SICP-Donation

Just replace SICP-Donation with your charity profile handle.
