Marketing Email that autopopulates test email address into Subject line

When we send a test email and input a staffer's email address into the test field, this automatically populates the email subject line with that email address. Anyone else? What is the fix for this???

  • @Beth Chipley Without looking at the email itself, this makes me think that the merge field of “donor email address” is being used. So far as I know, I don't think you can actually use merge fields in the subject line, but I wonder if the way that email previews/inboxes are set up is making this appear this way somehow? I'd be curious to see a screenshot, personally, if you haven't figured it out yet.

  • @Jaclyn Whitelock No merge fields at all.

It is when I am going to send a test, my browser suggests my email and when I click on it, it autofills the reply to and subject fields with the email address that I select. I have to remember to type in my test email myself and dont choose from a suggestion and then the fields are unaltered.
It's difficult to think that no one else has had this problem. I am using Chrome, so I can check another browser to see if the same thing happens.

  • @Beth Chipley that is so odd! I'm glad to hear it works if you manually type it in- perhaps the pre-populated suggestion somehow “lines up" with the merge field of email, even if it's not evident in choosing it. It sounds like this might only be with the test email too, and not the actual send outs, so perhaps the issue is specific enough that others just shrugged and kept going when they figured out the need to manually type it in.
