Teacher tool engagement list/report

Hi all,

I spend a good amount of time each year going through every class page at our school to check for policy adherence, to see if people need support, and to keep some tabs on how much tools are or are not being used. I wonder if anyone has been able to perhaps construct an advanced list that grabs all or some of the following data:

  • Tiles used on bulletin board
  • Number of topic pages if any
  • Number of assignments
  • Assignment types selected
  • Letter grade scales applied
  • Learning tools used
  • Calculation method selected

By class/section/teacher. I've been able to find several of these in different formats in some reports and lists, but not all I would LOVE for these to appear in the sky list under Grade Book List in academics (I just posted that as an “idea”). That all said I do learn a lot about the community with my academic tech partner doing this by hand, but it would be awesome to have a quick report that would grab all of this so we could focus on outliers who might need help.

Thanks!

Ben

    Hi @Benjamin Taylor

Some of these data points are able to be reported on, but others are not. Currently, getting all of this information into a single report is not possible, but thank you for posting that idea in the Idea Bank already!

Here are some things you can use to get the information you're after:

    • Tiles used on bulletin board
      • This is a data point we don't really have accessible at the moment.
    • Number of topic pages if any
      • This is a data point we don't really have accessible at the moment
    • Number of assignments
      • You can run the Assignment Counts by Section report under Academic Groups in the Reporting module.
      • Can run an Advance List for this information, this KB article can run through how to build a similar list. It's says it's for previous years but you can adjust the school year filter to be your current year to achieve a similar result:
    • Assignment types selected
      • Reporting > Reports > Gradebook Reports > Gradebook parameters - by Section
    • Letter grade scales applied
      • Reporting > Reports > Gradebook Reports > Gradebook parameters - by Section
    • Learning tools used
      • Core > Settings > Integration settings > Learning Tools > Click a tool's name
        • This can't currently be exported, but it will give you a good idea as which sections are using which tools.
    • Calculation method selected
      • Reporting > Reports > Gradebook Reports > Gradebook parameters - by Section
  • @Benjamin Taylor Can you share the link to the idea you created? I'd love to vote on it!

  • @Michael Morrissette I was aware of some but not all of these. Very helpful. Even better if the name formats were consistent (some are Last, First and others are First Last), but still useful and not that hard to split and reorganize in a spreadsheet.
