Tracking Professional Development

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone else uses Financial Edge to track professional development allocations. We currently use a mixture of FE and spreadsheets to track employees PD allocations for the year. We have employees that have transactions that are covered by the company and items that get covered by their PD allocation. They are also able to carry over allocations from a previous FY to cover large courses or conferences in a new year. Would love some advise on if anyone else uses FE to track this completely looking to simplify our process so it isn't pulling FE reports into spread sheets then adjusting amounts into master spreadsheets to show correct allocation of PD available at any given time for an employee.

    @Cheri McDowell, I don't see any peer response here yet, but I did reach out to one of my colleagues who used work in the finance office of a nonprofit and she made a suggestion you may find interesting. While FENXT doesn't have that employee level within the solution, you could possibly utilize projects to set up ‘Project Type’ = Employee and using the employee's name or a unique number (not their SSN), for the project name. This would allow you to allocate across different employees but also track any funds rolled over from a prior year.

  • @Nikki Baldwin, Thank you Nikki. We currently have the PD set up as a transaction code but I will pass this idea by my CFO and see what she thinks as we use Projects for other things.
