Scheduling Study Halls

I'm just wondering how other schools deal with study halls. Right now we are creating sections for every block of every day and it's so bulky and confusing, but I can't figure out a better way since B block on Monday might have different students and a different teacher than B block on Wednesday and so on.

Any suggestions or examples would be amazingly appreciated.

Thanks!

@Laura Curry - We have a 7-day rotating schedule. Some classes meet 7 days out of 7, and some half-credit classes meet 3 or 4 days. Some “classes” meet once per rotation.

Like you, teacher/proctor and the students expected to attend changes from day to day, period to period.

    • Teachers proctor one class period per rotation
    • A student may be required to attend study hall each day, but may be excused on a particular day to attend a regular scheduled private lesson with another teacher.

We created a Study Hall class for each letter day (STHALL-A, STHALL_B, etc), with a section for each class period. It is a bit tedious, but it allows complete flexibility to put students into a study hall section that fits around other obligations. Study Halls are added to student schedules last, after everything else is in place.
