@Crystal Bruce I feel like my go-to trick that I don't even think about anymore is using wild character (*) in search!

  • @Lindy Kingins, we had the same problem, but our IT dept was able to figure it out. Depending on your organization, maybe they can help you. IT had to make an “exception” to allow SmartPaste. Once they did that, it worked beautifully! Love SmartPaste!

  • @Crystal Bruce I use the “Duplicate Tab” control to quickly make multiple sessions of RE NXT - especially helpful when I am jumping back and forth between multiple screens.

Realizing I put this in the completely wrong thread last month ? so here it is:

Learning how to deal with Soft Credits in database view and NXT is big for my team.

In database view, when building a query, you can decide if you want to show the main donor information to the Donor (where the hard credit is applied), the Recipient (where the soft credit is applied), or Both. Just be careful with the BOTH option--don't use it for financial reporting as it will double count the gifts. This is also the spot to define whose info you want to see for matching gifts.

My favorite tip for RE is for database view! My predecessor left me a handy sheet with all kinds of shortcut keys for navigating and populating things.

F3 for dates and F5 to insert timestamps and my username into notes are my top two. Having this cheat sheet for Batch shortcuts and things really cuts down on data entry time, especially when I'm inundated with gifts.

  • @Crystal Bruce Using NXT Email marketing feature – when a constituent receives and email an entry gets added to their “Email History” on their record – so no more global actions needed :)

    • Also my favorite short cuts in DBV, “*” in search bar
    • F3 auto adds the date and timestamp for your notes/actions.
  • @Don Burrhus This is brilliant!

Off the top of my head F3 is probably one of my favorites for a lot of different uses. Filling in todays date in data entry or querying is so much easier with that one key.

@Kelly Hogan I was going to say F3 as well, but another one is instead of ctrl+O to open a new constituent and thus close the current one, ctrl+I will allow you to search for and open a second record while keeping the first one open (database view only).

The more modern webview version of this is a right click on the tab to duplicate or open in a new window, but they may not be side by side if you are comparing records.

@Crystal Bruce I'm a little bit late, but as the meme goes, I was today years old when I found out about this.
