NXT donation form info not showing up in database view exports

Hello.

We have an NXT “web view” donation form. Honoree acknowledgee info (i.e. someone makes a donation in memory of Mr. Smith and his widow is to be notified) shows up in the email receipts that I receive, but not in “database view” exports. Am I doing something wrong, or is that the way it's designed?

If it's the latter, does anyone know of any good work-arounds? I was thinking of adding the honoree acknowledgee info into the comments section before the batch is committed.

Thanks,

Jane

  • @Jane Van Ingen Is it creating a relationship for the acknowledgee or is that information just not being entered into RE at all?

  • @Christine Robertson I'm not sure because the acknowledgee was a relationship for the donor already. But that's a good point. If the relationship is added, I'll make it a primary relationship. If it's not added, I'll add it myself and make it a primary relationship. I have the export set up to export primary relationships.

  • @Jane Van Ingen I'd also check to see if the relationship is linked to the tribute. Hopefully, all you have to do is adjust your export to see the data!

@Jane Van Ingen I suggest going into the actual gift in database view and looking at the Tribute tab. Chances are a new record could have been created based on how the donor entered the information. I had this happen several times. You would then need to link to the correct tribute record and end up removing the incorrect one.

I tried to make it explicit on our donation form to only enter first and last name but, having worked at an all girls high school where maiden names mean a lot, that did not always occur so I would get a new tribute record created, sometimes then with a new relationship record that I also already had. It can be frustrating but in the end it's for a good reason. The day-to-day donor just cannot understand all we as DBAs and such need to track and in what specific way we need that information shared. I've cursed more than once at my computer for these things but the donors just don't know. They're trying to be helpful.

    Good luck!

  • @Jane Van Ingen Did you happen to merge the honoree's constituent record since these often create duplicates? I noticed last week (after merging 10 duplicate records for the honoree) that the acknowledgement recipient information that had been on the tribute record prior to the merge had disappeared from each of the tributes after the merge. [I took before/after screenshots of the most recent tribute record just to make sure I wasn't imagining it.] I had to refer back to the donation email notification to know which gift went to which relationship on the honoree's record.

I came to the discussion board to ask if that was a glitch to report or something that always happens.

  • @Miki Martin, that's a good suggestion. I'll keep that in mind the next time I get a donation with notification info. Thanks.

  • @Kevyn Barnes That's a good point, and something for me to think about if I get a tribute donation that RE thinks is a new donor and isn't! Thanks.
