Organizing New Table Entries

When adding a new table entry (such as subcategory), how can I move the entry from its default position at the bottom of the list up to it's appropriate place in the subcategory order. There appears to be no option to do this in NXT, whereas in database view, there was an up/down arrow that allowed us to move entries into proper position. This is important for easy selection when writing queries, etc.

  • @Coleen Dolinsky Unfortunately, I do not think this is currently possible. Definitely frustrating, but we're all just waiting on Blackbaud to add this functionality. I've seen it suggested in Ideas.

@Coleen Dolinsky you should see a up/down arrow to the left of the table entry. click it and that allows you to drag the table entry to it's preferred location.

  • @Elaine Tucker - I looked, but do not see any arrow to the left of the table entry. Only the circle with three dots. When clicking on it, I can only edit or delete.

@Coleen Dolinsky which table are you working with?

@Alex Wong Thanks for posting a screenshot, I tried to include one, but it did not render well.

  • @Coleen Dolinsky We do not have the ability to arrow anything up or down either. It is very frustrating, as I have to tell someone whose last name starts with A to scroll to the bottom of the table to find her name. I posted this in Ideas some time ago.

  • @Alex Wong We do not have this feature in our tables. I checked the one you showed in your screenshot, and there are no arrows. Do you think this is something we could ask to be turned on for our account?

Sorry wasn't paying attention that you are talking about FE NXT.

The screenshot is from RE NXT. Looks like the option to manual change position of entry in a table is not available on FE NXT.

@Alex Wong and @Karen Edwards I did the same thing, didn't realize this was FE

  • @Coleen Dolinsky This functionality is available in RENXT, so should be possible to add to FENXT. I agree, it is inefficient to always need to go back to database view to sort tables after new table entries are added.

I noticed that there are a few suggestions in the Idea bank. Maybe someone from Blackbaud can combine the suggestions into one? Ideas that I found in the Idea bank include: FENXT-I-2293 (Ability to sort tables); FENXT-I-2382 (Sorting of table data in NXT…); FENXT-I-2345 (Need to be able to sort a table in NXT); FENXT-I-935 (Manage table entries better)
