Combining Section / Cross-listing

How do I combine different sections of the same course so assignments and information only have to be entered once to reach all students? In Canvas this is called cross-listing. I'm not sure what the BB term is.

Thank you.

  • @Jennifer Miller - For Bulletin board and Topics, you would create the content you want in one section and use the import function available in the edit mode to copy it to other sections. For assignments and assessments, at the bottom of the “create” screen (or using the Edit button if the assignment/assessment is already created) use the Publishing options to make it available across different sections.

    Thanks, Scott.

Does this work across years? Can my faculty copy their 2023/24 Advisory pages to their 2024/25 advisory page?

  • @Jennifer Miller Yes is does. Your Advisors would go to their resource board for the upcoming year (once you make the rollover). In the Edit Mode, they can click on “Import Material” and choose the year that they would like to import the material from. In this case, for the sy24-25, they would import from sy23-24. This can also be done for any group that has a resource board.

    Thank you.

I tried to test this out, but was not able to locate the 24-25 Advisory. I have already gone into Core > System Tools > Master Rollover and chose ‘Run’ for the Advisory Groups from 23-24 to 24-25; however, they do not show up when I am impersonating a faculty member.

Is the rollover referenced separate - the big rollover at the end of the year? Or, am I actually only seeing the 24-25 Advisory in the menus? There aren't any designations that I've noticed to indicate which year it's from.
