How can I exclude repeated courses from GPA calculations?

Hi all - We allow students to repeat a course once. Upon completion of the retake, their new grade supersedes their grade from the previous time they took the course. We keep the old grade, we just don't want it to factor into the GPA calculations.

Is there a way to specifically exclude grades from a course that has been taken a second time?

Thank you!

    Hi @Matthew McCabe -

Yes, this is possible! There is an option in Enter Grade by Student that will allow you to exclude a particular set of grades from Grade Average Calculations.

    Steps:

    1. Go to Academics > Grades > Grade Management
    2. Go to Enter Grade by Student > Search for the desired student
    3. Click View for Grades and Comments
    4. Click Edit > For the grade you want excluded, unmark the Include in Grade Average box
    5. Click Save
  • Thank you for your reply, @Michael Morrissette! I found that checkbox, and it resolves the issue. I was hoping there was a setting that would handle this automatically. Fortunately, the volume of repeated courses is low enough that we can use this method for the time being.

Thanks again for the reply. Have a great day!
