Can't add fixed asset because Type options are not available

I'm trying to add a new fixed asset. Once I have the Asset ID, I go to the Type box and there is nothing to choose from the drop-down menu. Any suggestions?

    Can you provide a screen shot of where you're at. I just did a test asset, I don't have type and also the asset ID was not a field in my database when creating it. So want to make sure you're not using a custom field

    I went to Fixed Assets > Transactions. Then I clicked Add.

    Ah ok, so that's a transaction , but not actually an asset, at least adding one. that would be from the Asset list and add asset. As long as I use an asset id from an asset then the type drop down box prefills with appropriate transaction types, like period depreciation, improvement, etc. So question : Did you go to Fixed Assets >Assets and add the asset there first before going to Transactions and add?

    @Kevin Brazell, do the Transaction Types have to be added to a Field or Table?

    @Kyle Fuchs it doesn't, it's a controlled table that is prefilled out and should show you the type of transactions that can be done based on the status of the asset. Try this, go to the asset record and it has a transaction tile on the asset. If you go there, are you able to add any transactions from there?

    @Kevin Brazell. I think we found the issue. The depreciation method was set to ‘defined amounts’ instead of straight line. We cannot edit the asset, so not sure what to do now.

    @Kyle Fuchs check out this KB that had the announcement of Fixed Assets going webview only :

    FENXT Fixed Assets Webview Only

    IT lays out what the changes were and see if any of the steps they provide can work on that asset. otherwise you may need to reach out to support to see if there is anything that can be done to the asset to help convert it to straightline depreciation.
