Bank Reconciliation - Suddenly Out of Balance

Today, I reconciled my April 2024 financials - the register and the bank accounts were reconciled to my statement, with a zero out-of-balance amount for both. Within moments, I printed the Bank Reconciliation report, and there's now an Out of Balance amount for the bank accounts. Out of curiosity, I printed past bank reconciliation reports - all previously reconciled with zero out-of-balance amounts, and every single one is now showing an out-of-balance amount on the bank accounts.

for the april reconciliation, when you ran the report, what was the setting ? Was it last completed bank rec or something different?

  • @Kevin Brazell, it was for the last completed reconciliation. When I ran the other months, I selected them from the drop down… Is that what you're asking? I've got a case opened with Blackbaud, and someone that had a similar “mystery balance” in a past thread suggested looking into the optimization of past years setting - unsure that will help me or not.

Yes. The Last reconcilation of a bank, should be a static report. That way if both lines were in balance then changed, that should only show on the historical bank rec reports ( those are dynamic on the GL cash line and can change). So I'd keep working with support if it's the last completed as that shouldn't change and have a balance.
