Importing Invoices in FENXT
I was trying to import invoices into NXT and I noticed that there isn't a place to put the GL account number that you want the invoice to debit?
I did try to import invoices using the template they provided, but now in the bottom corner of my screen it just says Import Processing and it has for the last 45 minutes. There were 54 invoices to import. I finally gave up and just went into database and imported it that way (where it does ask you to provide a GL account number).

@Laura Hofstrand we don't have access to import yet to try it out and this is really worrying me. Reading the knowledge base article 203170 it seems like it is saying the GL distribution defaults from the vendor record. We dont work that way as each invoice we import for a particular vendor can have a different GL distribution. Also our import file can be 1500+ invoices. If you could not get 54 to work that does not bode well for us.

@Laura Hofstrand the current NXT version doesn't use accounts, the vendors would have to use a default distrubution. ALso note it doesn't copy the 1099 information amount fields as well. They plan to update it, but have not yet.

@Terri Milburn following this, we haven't received access yet either and will have the same issues as you, in regards to not setting the default distribution for the vendors.

@Laura Hofstrand. Thanks for bringing this forward as we do not have access to import yet. In the Knowledgebase article, the list of items not currently supported is concerning. Has anyone heard from Blackbaud if we will “eventually” have the same ability in webview as we currently do in database?

@Carolyn White Below is what I heard back from Customer Support:
I see how that is a little restricting and could be problematic. I have not seen anywhere that the import feature as is will remain the way it is or whether it will be expanded on. I would suggest mentioning this on our idea banks if you haven't already. The developers monitor that page and if they have an answer they will respond and let you know if the import feature will be expanded on or not.
I did find it was already mentioned in the idea bank and I voted for it.

@Terri Milburn
Thanks Terri. I have also voted. This is very concerning - as are lots of items.4 -
Hi All, I would encourage you to check out the recent Product Update Briefing on demand:
We don't go into too much detail but we do discuss Import and that more development is currently happening for these improvements and expected fields discussed here. Definitely keep your votes up for specific items, but don't fret, we are actively improving and updating Import (and export) functionality for webview from this initial release. Please keep giving us this valuable feedback – we really appreciate it!

@Nikki Baldwin If I am understanding correctly, FENXT web view is currently programmed to assume every invoice that is imported would automatically be using a default GL Distribution that is set up on the vendor record. If so, this is unacceptable and would completely disrupt our current processes. We rely on invoice import and never set default GL distributions on a vendor because the distributions change on each invoice we pay.

@Jennifer Hughes thank you for this feedback – among other items related to the import functionality, this is a feature we want to improve/update for the webview. Having the ability to set all the account distributions on each invoice should be available since we know not everyone utilizes or can utilize a default per vendor. And even if they do/can, that often changes with individual invoices.

@Laura Hofstrand I created a support case as well for this item. At first, the response was basically add to idea bank but she did say she would reach out to other Blackbaud team members for further information, which I appreciated. I have now received this response.
Reaching back out to let you know that I did hear back from my internal team resources with some additional information.
We do not have an estimate on the timing from the engineering team, but they did let us know that they are currently working on making the Import functionality more robust in NXT like it is in Database View, and import functionality will not be removed from Database View until it has been added in the NXT side as well.
