Having trouble adding an asset in FE NXT

Hello. I am trying to add assets to FE NXT. Historically we have kept track of fixed assets/depreciation, etc on a spreadsheet and I am wanting to use Blackbaud going forward. I keep getting error messages when trying to Save my asset addition. One will say I can't use a default account as the debit account in this transaction. Then another will say I need at least one primary account. I have done all the BB University trainings on fixed assets and now looked in community and the knowledge base and cannot find anything about these error messages. Did anyone else have a rough start with Fixed Assets in NXT?

  • @Robin ArwoodApparently my AP person is also receiving these error messages in Payables so I don't think it is a fixed asset issue…

  • @Robin Arwood I think some of our settings got changed maybe. I am looking through our security section to see who has access to change configurations. But I still can't find where the account I am trying to use is a default account--so there still may be something wrong with this.

@Robin ArwoodThat message usually indicates some business rule settings are potentially being violated. I'd first go to GL>Settings>BUsiness Rules>Transactions. Check the rules here for anything with default and summary accounts. Don't change it necessarily, but note them. Then look at the accounts being used when setting up the Asset for the depreciation defaults & if doing the acquisition transaction, their accounts too. Also if you've not setup a default accumulated deprecation account, you may want to look at the Settings in FA to confirm are the necessary default accounts setup as well.
