Is there a way to change gift type in web view before committing?

Our finance team is requesting we change all gifts that come in as “recurring gift pay cash” to “cash” as the “recurring gift pay cash” gift type causes an error with processing on their end. When we received our second recurring gift (this is the first time we tried recurring gifts via web view and we only have one person on this plan so far), I realized I could not change the gift type. I ended up having to commit the gift, adjusting to zero in database view and then creating a new identical gift with a “cash” gift type.

I am wondering if anyone has faced a similar issue with recurring web view gifts and what your solution was.

    rather than trying to see if you can change the gift type, should look into what the error is that your finance team is having and fix that instead.

    webview recurring gift is meant to work in this manner where the recurring gift paycash is “applied” to the recurring gift “template” that is the basis for charging every month.

    @Bianca Gonzalez I agree with Alex, don't change that in RE because it will cause problems in the future for reporting, etc. and make a future database person miserable. Let Finance figure out their issue. Never change things in RE to please another department that cannot fix their own issues.

    @Bianca Gonzalez I'm in agreement with @Joe Moretti and @Alex Wong. The type is right. I would troubleshoot it on the finance side to see what is wrong. I'd also check your GL distributions and make sure that Cash and Recurring Gift Pay-Cash are set correctly, if you are connected to FE. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a configuration issue somewhere.
