what is the difference between forms I create in Core and forms I create in Enrollment Management?

I'm not sure which spot I should use for the forms I am making for the start of the school year like media permission, health information, and emergency contacts. Thank you!

  • @Rachel Butler You can certainly create those forms in Core, but we house most of our student forms in Academics so that teachers are able to view the form responses from their roster reports. Teacher's don't really need to see a lot of them, but it is helpful for them to be able to view some of them, and that way our registration forms are all in one place.

I think before creating them in Enrollment Management, I would consider whether the person creating or maintaining the forms will always have manager access to Enrollment Management. In my case, the answer is yes because I also handle re-enrollment contracts, but I'm not sure that will always be the case for our school, so I would be inclined to keep student forms in Core or Academics.

  • @Shannon Krise Thank you. I think that clears things up for me. It sounds like there is not a big difference between the forms themselves or how parents will experience them, but the difference is on the school's end in terms of who will create them and view them.

  • @Rachel Butler Also, medical forms can only be created in the Academics module. [Ed: clarity.]

I am new with Blackbaud and trying to run a report that tells me the number of inquiries, number of applications, and number of students. Does Blackbaud have a report for this or can you create your own?

  • @Melanie Wallace

When you create forms in the core part of a Blackbaud you are typically working with general form-building capabilities that allow you to create custom forms for various purposes within the system. These forms can be used for data entry, information collection, event registration, donation processing, and more.

On the other hand, when you create forms specifically within the enrollment management you are focusing on forms related to the enrollment process. These forms are typically tailored to collect specific information required for student enrollment, such as personal details, academic history, extracurricular activities, and more. The enrollment management module may offer specialized features and integrations to streamline the enrollment process, manage applicant data, track applications, and communicate with prospective students and families.

When running a list of inquires, I would ask how are you coding and receiving them with your system. Where did you create your inquiry form? It will makes a huge difference when trying to gather the information.

  • @Barbara V Glass Where do we create a form under Enrollment Managment?

Hi @Melissa Sanchez this can be found under Enrollment management > Content > School forms

  • @Rachel Butler I would definitely recommend housing your basic, administrative forms in Core. We just moved away from Blackbaud Enrollment and unfortunately all our summer forms were housed there for some reason, so I had to recreate everything in Core. You can create Forms in Academics but for us those have been reserved to things like student lab contracts, etc.
