Journal Entry Batch Creator

Has anyone had a problem with the Journal column? I get an error message that says the word “Journal Entry” is not a valid journal even though the field is automatically populated.

You need to use a word that is already listed in your version of FE. You may be able to use “General Ledger”, but you cannot use “GL” or “General ledger (lower case)”. Just type in the word you need instead of the formula.

Where can you find a list of acceptable words? Honestly I do not recall, but I think it is Control Panel > Fields and Tables > Journal. I think that lists the words you can use for that.

Edit: You may need to have administrative rights to access that. If you are not the admin for your organization for FENXT, ask your admin to look for it.

ALso check your business rules settings to see what is allowed. You may just need to put a check mark in the box for which journal codes are allowed in GL. Go to General Ledger>Settings>Business Rules>Journal Entry.

I figured out the problem. The word Journal Entry has to be in all CAPS. You think that a field that is automatically filled in would be correct.

I can see that being the case. It's annoying. There is no cohesion in the development of FE NXT. You can see from the end results that different sections are developed and implemented by different silos that barely communicate with each other. BB wants to promote all the flashy things like the dashboards and scheduling reports, but they can't get the day to day issues to work smoothly. I'm glad I was able to set you on the right track to the solution. Good luck!
