Journal Entry Printing

Is there a way to print a Journal Entry without having to first run a report? In database view I could just hit the print icon. In NXT I have to open the entry, find the report to run, wait for it to run, click the report, wait for it to open, print, then close it. It's so time consuming, if there is a quicker way it would be a big help to know.

  • @Caylene Zeppa Hi Caylene! That workflow is what I would recommend to get everything in the formatting you would like.

You could also export to excel and print that way. Or take a screenshot of the journal entry and print.

That workflow Caylene described is unacceptable. The idea that it takes multiple steps now to do something as simple as printing a JE, when before it was a just a toolbar click, is just bad interface design. I also spent way too long recently, looking for the print function for one JE, so I could show it to a colleague during a discussion and write notes on it. It shouldn't be a multi-step project to do this. If a simple cooking website can have a print function built into it for just the recipe, then so can NXT. There should be a print tool on every NXT page, which doesn't require first saving as a PDF (bad enough we have to do this for checks!) or taking a screenshot. Those are kludgy workarounds and they don't replace the functionality we had in the database.
