Questions about setting up first project

Hi everyone I'm new here and wanted some advice on a project my organization is interested on working on.

We would like to use Raisers NXT API to query and create flat csv (comma separated value) reports that will be sFTP'd.

We work with colleges and universities, to go about using the API we will need to work with them, to use the API will the colleges and universities have to create an account for us or provide a license, if so does that come with a cost? Any help or feedback from the community on would be appreciated.

not sure I understand your “role”.

are you saying that you are a technology provider and that you are planning to create an app that works with different colleges and universities that uses RE NXT?

or are you a non profit org that uses RE NXT and you work with different colleges and univerisites?

without knowing too much about what is your situation, it's hard to give any advice.

  • @Alex Wong We’re a technology company with shared customers and they want to be able to share data by making it available within our platform by us accessing it through an API.

not that it matters to your direct question, but I would be extra careful on “sharing” data among different entity that can cause a PII issue. But that's for the various entities and you to figure out the agreement and NDA.

From a “internal user” perspective, SKY API has a quota of 25K endpoint call (not # of records return, so a single call can return up to 5K or 10K records, depending on endpoint used), and a 10 API calls per second. As internal user using SKY API, there is no cost associated, and you will need a developer account that has certain rights given in order to make API call.

I am not a “partner” type of user, so I do not know what that looks like from a tech partner perspective. Blackbaud also has a higher API quota for partner but I do not know if it comes with a cost.

@Erik Leaver may be able to point you to a better direction if you want to approach this as a partner.

  • @Alex Wong Thanks Alex for the reply, this information is good to know.

@Erik Leaver Could you share if there is a cost associated for a partner user looking to use the API?

@Fernando Cuaya Info about API limits & fees for partners is available via the partner portal!
