Financial reports

I've been with my current employer for a little over a year. Our financials are presented in excel with 13 tabs. It takes me about 2 days to complete. There are so many formulas, that if I add anything I have to make sure it flows to the other tabs. Only 5 of those tabs are presented for the board to review. How can I get our financial reports in FE NXT to look like our spreadsheets and the same categories?

@Lakisha Davis Have you ever taken any of our FENXT courses in Blackbaud University? There's a fundamentals course specifically on reports that could give you a good base!

  • @Sarah Curry No I have not, but I will. I need all of the help I can get. I'm the only one that uses it, so I'm basically learning as I go. We just got changed over to FENXT. I'm still learning the new environment.

@Lakisha Davis Just sent you a message!

  • @Lakisha Davis We use attributes/custom fields on the accounts to categorize accounts into their financial reporting categories and then I built financials based on that.

  • @Katy Ripp Thank you. So we have the categories set up, but I need to check to make sure it matches the financial spreadsheets I'm doing now. Where do you go to build your financials?

Go to General Ledger > Chart Organizer. You have to build your chart organizer first and then go to your reports and select the chart organizer you created as your chart template in your report. The Chart Organizer allows you to build out the rows and then the reports allow you to build out the columns and filter your date (i.e. for specific dates, funds, etc.). There should be videos to help you. Maybe look up how to use the chart organizer first.

  • @Lakisha Davis Hey, not sure if still having trouble but I found these courses on Blackbaud University are just a couple that have really helped me. You can setup the reports how you need export to excel while creating VLookups in complex reports has definitely saved me time.

  • @Siesha Moultrie Thank you Siesha, yes, month end is still a nightmare for me doing the 13 tab workbook. I will definitely sign up for the webinars you mentioned.

  • @Lakisha Davis until then Vlookups have saved me hours of work it takes a little time to setup but once you do it'll be joyous! I deal with over 70 sites & even more budgets so I get it! Good luck!
