Can we sort Correspondence Process output?

We have a correspondence process that produces letters based on a constituent selection. The ad-hoc query that the selection is based on is sorted by surname but the letters are not coming out in that order in the mailmerged document (I'm not really sure what order they're in - it doesn't seem to be by name, lookup ID, system record ID etc.)

Sometimes there are dozens or hundreds of letters and they need to be paired up with the matching ID card so it would be really helpful if both the pile of cards and the pile of letters were in the same order! Has anyone got any tips for how we could do this?

  • Dear @Alan French,

Sadly, selections don't respect the sort order of the Ad-hoc Query.

Is the matching ID card produced by a correspondence process too, or by external mail merge? Perhaps you could save the data from the letters correspondence process and merge it externally to print the cards.

    Kind regards,

    David.

  • @David Wanless I'd have to check but it's a different department producing the cards and they don't use BBCRM, so probably not :( Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll check it out just in case!

  • @Alan French are you using an Export Definition? I know those have the Sort feature.

  • @Pamela Hassler yes that's done it, brilliant ? Thanks very much for your help!
