Teachers ability to change attendance

Hello! Does anyone know a workaround for teachers no longer being able to edit their attendance after they take it? They used to have that ability but with all the new updates, it seems to have gone away. We do have the “timer” set for no changes after 1 hour of it being entered but they can't edit it minutes after submitting it.

  • @Vicky Lopuchowycz I have not seen this - so far this year I have not heard any teachers ask about not being to update attendance. We used to have it set at 1 hour and had the same situation as you. I can't remember if this was the issue, but we had one issue where when we had something set to an hour to make changes and since we are central time and our datacenter was in eastern time, it was always locked because eastern time is one hour ahead of us. We ended up changing our time to be 4 hours and have had no issues since. Plus, it gives teachers the flexibility when our attendance manager asks “you marked this person absent - did they ever arrive to class?” and the teacher can change it to a tardy.

  • @Vicky Lopuchowycz - I'm an Attendance Manager and I'm the only one who can go in and change attendance after it's been locked in. It wasn't that way last year – we could edit attendance pretty much the whole week, but this year it's locked after the class.

  • @Vicky Lopuchowycz you can change the Record Method to allow teachers to edit X hours after class begins. We noticed in the new attendance that it defaulted to 1 for us. We have always allowed by end of day, so we set this to 8 hours, but going to experiment with lowering it now that we can control. ?

    Hi all!

    No changes to the teacher's ability should have occurred with the most recent updates. The only update in the last year that impacted teachers' edit capability was the addition of the setting to control how much time a teacher has to edit.

    The settings for attendance do not automatically roll over from one year to the next. If your teachers are not experiencing what you expect, go to Academics > Attendance >Settings: Record method and make sure your settings for the 24/25 year are set as you need.

    If those settings are set the way you need and teachers are still not able to edit, please reach out to Support to have our teams assist with troubleshooting further.
