Un-approve Journal Entry Batch

All of my journal entries are not able to be edited once approved, but I found mistakes in some of them. Is there a way to revert the status to “pending approval”?

@Erin Wyatt, as long as the batch isn't posted, you should be able to toggle that status back to pending, as long as you have those rights to approve. If you don't, or don't have rights to self-approve a batch you created, you may have to ask the original approver to toggle that status.

I do have access to approve, but not self approve. I approved other people's batches, then realized I needed something updated, but I cannot. I think the issue is that I don't want reviewers to have the ability to edit batches. I would like to separate transaction entry from posting. It sounds like I might be able to solve this issue by giving my entry people who don't have the rights to post the self-approve permission. Since they are able to edit batches, they would be able to edit and revert the status back. Does that seem correct?

@Erin Wyatt, sounds like you have some great internal controls set up around that, and of course, that's great, especially for your auditors ?. I think that as long as you don't allow them to post, but they can self-approve, that's still a level of controls to keep the oversight before posting in a good place but I would defer to those auditors to see if they may have an issue with that. But yes, if they are editing and can self-approve, they could toggle it back, along with making the changes needed before asking for approval and posting again.
