Query not accepted Proposals in NXT
So, I'm working from home today and our Major Gifts officer who has just moved on has left me with a list of major gift proposals for a campaign we're closing off to change any not accepted Proposals to ‘dropped’.
I think in RE dbv I could have run that query, and did an import to make the change
But, as I said I'm working from home today so only have NXT available.
Can this be done?

@Ryan Moore
you can change the proposal (opportunity) in webview manually, 1 at a time. If you are looking at a lot of them, then it may not be efficient that way, as there is no “import” in webview.1 -
@Alex Wong
From what I can tell, looks like 160 of them, so may not be the best use of my timeIn DBV I'm assuming I just take the query, export to CSV, then go to an import constituent/proposal and change?

@Ryan Moore - I recommend downloading the Citrix Workspace app to the device you have at home, so that you can access database view. As Alex mentioned, 160 is a lot to update one-at-a-time.

@Austen Brown not an option unfortunately (I have eschewed using windows or mac at home and purely on ChromeOS… so not easily done).
Now to make this happen on DBV (back at the office now).
It seems an absolutely CONVOLUTED process to make what should be a simple change.
Looks like you have to
- Make the query of who needs this change (proposal name = “X” & prosposal status NOT= “accepted, written off, rejected… ”
- Go to admin / import
- Go to Constituent / Proposals - create new
- choose to ‘create a new file’ / select the query made earlier
- name the file, pick what fields you want to have “import IDs?”
- you Export this… (not create?)
Then, once you have that done, then you go into this file and change the statuses to “dropped” and then go back and import?
f*** me with a spoon this is an ugly mess of a piece of software to do something simple as change values

the steps (I know you typed it out, but want to make sure you selected the right options)- constituent query, hopefully you have the list of constituent ID, just copy and paste into a one-of operator, that is all, the criteira for propsal info is extranous as the constituent query is used in the next step, which isn't going to care too much about which proposal
- admin> import > constituent proposal
- select Create import file
- include the constituent query #1 above
- select to save your file somewhere
- in the Fields tab, make sure you selected all the fields that will help you determine which propsal needs to be updated, as well as the field that you are going to update. Most important here is the Proposal Import ID, needed to make the update that target the specific proposal
- click Create Now to create the export file
- open excel and filter on fields that help you narrow down to the proposal that you want to change, delete all other rows. Then make the update to the field/column, you can actually delete all other columns except Proposal Import ID, Constituent ID, and the field you are updating.
- admin >import > constituent proposal
- select Update existing records
- the fields should be auto mapped, but if not, map them, and then import

yeah, i think i've gotten it (i did a test of just one line of a constituent to see if it would change, and it did).
but holy quacamole… this is a process to do one simple change to multiple files. none of the guides make sense or intuitive enough (maybe only a year in the role is hindering me and i'll get more accustomed) - but to make changes I have make a list, then take that list and make it into another list, take that list, adjust what it is I want to have changed, then feed that list back into the list maker…
i think i might get it done faster with an old punch card computer

I hear you, it's quite some steps.This mainly has to do with the inavailability of certain fields in Query mode. If Proposal Import ID is available in Constituent Query, then the process would have been much simpler.

@Alex Wong Further complicated due to this being a constituent field and not a separate table like gifts or actions which would allow for easier query and update. An idea that has been posted to the Idea Bank and discussed in multiple threads for at least a decade.
