Power BI beginner
Hi Community,
I am getting started with connecting Power BI with NXT and I have a few questions. I have successfully connected via the connector on GitHub but it seems what is available to come over, is pretty limited. I have made a few lists in NXT and pulled though, but again seems limited. Is the API more robust and customizable? It certainly seems like using the API is so much more complicated, but worth it. I would really appreciate any thoughts.

Power BI connector is not officially published by Blackbaud and is maintained by others. So it is limited to what has been added and new API and changed API doesn't always get added right away.Another Con is, using the Power BI connector to gather data will require that you setup a data gateway as well (a delicated computer/server) in order to do auto-refresh of the data.
Directly using SKY API is best, however, you need a “place” to persist the data obtained through the API (i.e. Azure SQL Database, Fabric Data Lake, SharePoint csv, excel or list, etc). Once it is stored in a cloud location, you can access the data from your power bi and auto-refresh without need to setup a data gateway.

@Alex Wong Thanks! I just went through and built the connection today as well and was looking to pull some wealth ratings into BI and wasn't locating that field. Guess that's another field that just isn't available. ?

wealth rating is not available from existing SKY API neither.You can use Query API to pull that info programmatically

As @Alex Wong noted, this method can provide some additional information and can be scheduled to perform regular refreshes.
