Duplicates and the Updates Coming

Hello,

Apologies if this question has already been asked elsewhere or if I am asking in the wrong place. I am still very new to Blackbaud and the community!

I am curious about the updates coming to the duplicate management system on web view. I read that there will be no need to merge on web AND database view in the future and also mass merge will be added. My questions are…

  • Is there a date set for when these features will be introduced?
  • And do you believe it is worthwhile to continue working on duplicates while these are in development? (Our organization has less than 1,000 duplicates at the moment)

    @Carson Kallenberger I have heard nothing in regards to this and knowing how slow it has been to update RE NXT, I would begin to tackle those duplicates since it sounds like you have many.

    this was announced as something that BB is actively working on, and the functionality is worth waiting for in my opinion. I suspect that the functionality will be released by end of year or Q1 2025. Register for the PUB coming mid-Nov to see and know more about it and its potential release date.

    Merge once without worrying about doing it in db view and webview. Merge that will have capability to delete the useless record rather than inactive it, merge that will put the deleted record's constituent id as alias on the surviving record, etc. This will remove a lot of unneccessary steps in merging.

    @Carson Kallenberger Working on reducing duplicates is a necessary function at all times.

    Like @Joe Moretti, I hadn't heard anything about that, but let me state that if your organization doesn't use a lot of NXT only fields, then there may not be much benefit to merging both in NXT and DB view. My org doesn't use NXT only fields, and doesn't attach files in web view, so I only merge once in DB view.
