Importing an EXTERNAL Unsubscribe email list into RE NXT
How do I import an EXTERNAL Unsubscribe email list into RE NXT to update constituent records before using the marketing email feature?
Please & thank you for your help!!

@Karen Bruce
this depends on how you record unsubscribe currently in RE NXT, so let's start with that2 -
@Karen Bruce It does depend on how you're recording this information, but regardless you need to be able to connect those email addresses to constituents in some way, shape or form. If you want to just code them as requests no email, that lives on the constituent record, you could just check the box via a global change or import. Hopefully the data you're getting the unsubscribes from has ConstiuentIDs or something. Otherwise, you'll need a third party tool like IOM or Importacular to match the email.
It's probably better to match up the email addresses to the email records to code them as invalid, but that could require a PhoneImportID.

@Alex Wong @Dariel Dixon We code them under solicit codes - No Email Solicitation. The list I received from our 3rd party company includes the email address and name but not the constituent id#.
Unfortunately there are about 10K on that list. Wondering if a global change can use just the email address to process or if I need to add the id's to the list for it to work?
Thanks for your help!

@Karen Bruce
if you can get a query together then global change is possible.You can potentially use the “one of” operator but you got 10K emails, that will be A LOT of “one of” filter “one of” in database view query only do 500 at a time.
I better way to do this is to export ALL email address in your database, then in excel use COUNTIF formula to locate all the email that is in the unsub list, now you have a constituent id.
Then use the constituent id, and Admin > Import to create a static query of constituent record to do global change with

@Alex Wong I think this is a time where perhaps it would be better to create the query in web view, as I think the limit is 2000 as opposed to the 500. Granted, creating the query is going to be a chore either way.
@Karen Bruce I would definitely look into creating that query if you don't have access to a third party tool. I think there is a free version of Importacular, but I'm not sure. You'd have to reach out to @David Zeidman and his team to see if the free version would work for this to begin with. That said, you'll probably have this issue in the future until you get IDs in your third party email tool, or come up with another solution.

@Dariel Dixon
not everyone has query in webview yet, so i'm not sureI am also not sure how well the 2000 “work” in db view, as global change is in dbview. I have a feeling it will break.

@Alex Wong I see your point, but I don't know if it would change much. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of records that can be in a query, but the global change should be able to handle it as it is just going to work on the number of records in the query either way. Granted, I wouldn't want to find out myself.

@Dariel Dixon
just tested itwhen using oneof on query in webview, 2000 is limit when saved and open the same query in dbview, it will still show 2000 filtered records. You open the oneof operator, I scroll to the bottom and do see the 2000th ID i was doing one-of with.
which then makes me wonder maybe BB has change the one of operator's limit in dbview too, but unfortunately when I do a new oneof operator, the limit is still 500.
good: nothing break, everything works

@Karen Bruce @Dariel Dixon Thanks for the shoutout Dariel. You certainly could use the free version of Importacular to lookup and bring in the external constituents. I assume that you would look up by email address (or any other biographical data points to be honest). Any not found could be created. Those that were found could be updated.
Check out more information here:

@David Zeidman thank you! We used Importacular at my previous institution to help bring Gravyty's Graduway/Advance data over. It worked great.

I would also recommend Importacular - you can absolutely use the free version for Consent, Solicit Codes and even the “Do Not Contact” field on the email address itself. You also won't need any import ids or constituent ids to do it!

Okay! Let me say this publicly. @Alex Wong is doing some considerable heavy lifting here. Just testing this suggestion is such a relief and relives the burden of what is theorical and what is practical. I just want to say that I GREATLY appreciate it good sir. Thank you once again.
