I'm looking for a way to easily troubleshoot the daily schedule calendar…. When there is a wierd scheduling issue I can usually trace it to the daily schedule calendar but finding the actual day where I made an error or forgot to do something is challenging. Any best practices on that. I do hope that Blackbaud changes the interface and workflow of that part of the system. It's pretty awful.

    I have found that I need to navigate differently throughout the system, depending upon what information and what scenario I’m up against. Which of course is tricky, if you’re not yet familiar with the system!

    Going to Academics > Scheduling > Requests and Schedules > Overview > View Master Schedule > View by Student, you’re able to set a filter to only show students with a scheduling conflict. But the user interface is not the best to actually troubleshoot a given course the might be the main culprit.

    In my opinion, the most efficient way to troubleshoot an issue caused by a change to the daily schedule calendar is going old school and running a canned report. If you go to Academics > Reporting > Reports > Category: Schedule Reports > Sub-category: Student Reports. Run the report: Students with Schedule Conflicts.

    Of course, this will pull up a list of students with a schedule conflict on given days. But I have found that it’s the best high level overview that I’ve found to identify a conflict with a given course. For example, I set a few hundred exceptions last week for a school. I spent a lot of time in the master schedule view for students. It wasn’t until I ran the report referenced above that I could VERY quickly see that almost every students with a conflict was enrolled in “IB English 12 - A”.

    You might have a difference experience, but try giving that report a shot and I hope that it's helpful to you!
