New Submissions Errors

I have two applications in my Pending Submissions page that are unable to be considered because of “submission errors." When I click the red exclamation points, the messages both say that the answeres in certain fields have exceeded the allowable characters. 1- Is the applicant also receiving this message? 2- How can I edit the form so the applicant is not able to submit the application without addressing the error? 3- How can I resolve the error for the 2 submissions I have already received so that they can be considered?

  • Hi @Sara Aitken - we had the same issue and there isn't a fix as of now. No the grantee is not seeing the message. You have to send the application back to the grantee and ask them to shorten their descriptions. It allows them to submit unless you add the maximum character count under the validation tab.

  • @Tonya Conaway thank you for your help

  • @Sara Aitken Yes, I have the same issue. if you have blueprint, any limitations in blueprint are causing the issue, regardless of editing the word/character limit on the form. Not sure why the error doesn’t appear for the grantee, but I can attest it’s pretty darn frustrating as the grants manager!!! I’m currently stuck in a situation where even sending back for resubmission isn’t working :(

  • @Monica Jordan thank you for pointing me toward blue print. is it possible to edit the field through blue print? the max characters that I want to edit is grayed out.

  • @Sara Aitken glad to be able to save you some frustration trying to solve the problem :). I have a ticket in right now to confirm, but it looks like Blackbaud has to do it from their end. Waiting to hear if there will be a cost….

it would be great if you submitted the ticket too to bump up the issue for BB - it doesnt make sense to me that the restrictions on the field in blueprint aren’t causing the error for the applicant while they’re filling out the form! I now have 30 applications for resubmission because I didn’t consider them as they arrived and they all have the same problem!! Very frustrating and I would think a solvable problem. Perhaps not!

  • @Monica Jordan we had a ticket in as well. They told me they couldn't change my blue print. Would you please let us know if they come up with a way to fix yours? Thanks!!

  • @Tonya Conaway Yes! they were able to make the change from the back end.

The field had been originally created as a text field (max 255 characters) and I needed it changed to a long text field to allow more characters as I used the field in a different form. I'm assuming the type of field and change needed would impact the possibility of making a change. But I'm beyond relieved and I was able to consider all my “error” applications :)
