date entry

Hello, This, is probably a stupid question but does anyone else have trouble with date entry. I put in the date and then half or all of it disappears. Is this a situation where we need to put in the numbers with no slashes or is there anything else we can try?

  • @Jennifer Wuchner I have had the same problem ever since data entry moved to FE Nxt. I had a work order in and when I finally had a remote session with a support specialist, he said that he has seen this with other clients as well. The solution was to slow down and make sure each field fully loads before moving to the next field… NOT a solution at all in my mind ?

@JoAnne Thielen Thanks for your reply. Their solution does not help much with data entry speed. I also have accounts that don't load and it defaults to petty cash which is our first GL account.

I really don't have extra time to slow down…..

    thanks again

We have this issue as well with A/P and G/L. There is a noticeable lag time in data entry that is extremely frustrating and was not an issue at all in database view. For now I am importing most GL entries through the excel add on, as this seems to be the most efficient way to enter our journal entries.

I've had to enter a slash for date. EXAMPLE: 02/25/2025 . Then hit tab and it takes.

  • @JoAnne Thielen It is the same thing with us. Our employees who do data entry are extremely efficient out of necessity as we have a high volume of work. Blackbaud's instruction that they need to work slower so that the accounting system can keep up with them is frustrating to say the least.

@Amanda Rodriguez thanks I have tried that but have gone back to no slashes. I was thinking the slash was confusing the field. Who knows….

The major difference in dates between the database and NXT, that I have found, is that NXT requires a 4-digit year, whereas the database was ok with just 2 digits. This dragged me down for a while until I got used to it (forget removing your hands from the keyboard to point the mouse at the tiny popup calendar, that will remove years from your life).

One thing that helped was that I can stick to typing 2-digit years on some screens if I follow the date input with the Tab key. That doesn't work absolutely everywhere, but it works in AP Invoice entry and in a JE. Most of the time I just am forcing myself to remember to type the 4-digit year.
