Fields & Tables Sorting

We use a custom table that I assign accounts to in order to show what region the account is a part of. We just added a new Florida segment but since it is the newest record on the list, it is showing up at the bottom. How can I change the order of it so that it sorts alphabetically or numerically instead?

@Cameron Williard Thank you for posting about this capability. It is not available at this time, but I am passing along the suggestion as it is a great one. I would also recommend posting this feature idea in the idea bank!

Along these same lines, when I change the column order or column width of my table of program codes or departments, FENXT does not remember my preference, so I have to change it every time I access that table. It would be so nice if the table could remember my preferences.

  • @Cameron Williard I don't know if they have cut off access to database for these records but we recently had to add a few more and were able to put them in order in database view. It would be very silly not to have this option in FENXT as well. If you find an “idea” or have to create a new “idea”, please post and I will vote on it.

@Cameron Williard, I may be misunderstanding exactly where you are in the system for this table but most of the lists you'll see allow you to click on the header (description, table name, subledger, etc.) to put them in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order. Where I don't see this option available is within a custom field's table entries only. So you'd navigate to Control Panel > Tables and open a table name, the values within that table don't have the option to sort – is that the place you're wanting to organize it?

  • @Heather LeVan The ability to sort tables in FE NXT has been in the idea bank for months now. I posted it long ago with regard to a table I use for the web portal users. One time when I got on the Community, another user responded about using the arrows. It turned out he was referring to RE NXT. It sure seems like if there is the capability to at least move something up or down in a table for RE, then the coding has already been done and needs to be applied to FE. This is even more of an issue now that other tables (such as grants that now cannot be alphabetized) have had database access removed.
