Table cleanup messing up data??

Friends, have any of you done Table cleanup and had it mess up your data? I recently did major cleanup (merge, inactivate, sort) of a horribly messy Titles table BUT I also turned on the Title in the web view Constituent Name. Suddenly my users were pointing out wrong Titles on constituents. I'm not sure if the Title cleanup went awry or they just saw wrong values that have always been there. Wanting to see if others have had problems before taking the time and money to restore a backup. Thanks! (apologies for cross posting and yes, I searched the topic in KB and here before posting)

@Bill Connors Interesting! I have done quite a bit of table cleanup but have not seen results like you are describing. I'll be curious to hear any other situations where this has happened.

@Bill Connors My guess is wrong values that have always been there. I know when we first moved to webview back in 2017 there was a good amount of “mess” that surfaced. When we went into database view to see what was happening, it just turned out we had bad/old data that needed to be cleaned up.

Unfortunately, I don't have any more recent experience to share though to know if this might have been an actual error in the backend merge code.

  • @Dan Snyder @Karen Diener Thank you both. Based on all the contacts I've made on this so far here and elsewhere, no one is reporting any problems from cleanup of Tables in the web view, so at this point I'm moving forward based on the idea that the Table cleanup went fine, it was the exposing of the Title values to users by turning it on in the web view, and existing bad data, that is the problem. Thank you both for taking the time to reply.
