Show Constituent ID during a search in NXT

Kathy - I found these instructions a few years ago and it has been super helpful when searching (and usually faster than using the search bar). These instructions are specifically for Chrome, but you can do this in other browsers as well.

Creating a Search Engine for RE/NXT

• Logon to RE/NXT (webview)
• Open the search bar, as if you were going to search for a constituent, and type in a name that would not be found in your database (for example: Xxxxxxxxxx)
• Pause for just a minute while RE looks for (and doesn’t find) your fake constituent
• When it tells you no matches were found, press enter and go to the Search Results page with 0 Records
• Now, copy the entire URL for this page (you’ll see your fake constituent’s name included in it)
• Open Chrome and go into Settings
• On the Settings page, select Search engine on the navigator bar
• Select Manage search engines
• Scroll about half way down the “Manage search engines” page to find Site search and click the Add button to the right of that heading
• On the “Add search engine” window, enter the following:
  • Search engine: Raiser’s Edge (or whatever you want to call it)
  • Shortcut: RE
  • URL: paste the URL you copied, and then change the fake search name you used (Xxxxxxxxxx in my case) with these characters: %s
• Click the Add button to create your new search engine and close out of Settings

Using your new RE search engine is easy

• Open a new tab in Chrome
• On the URL bar, enter: RE <tab key> <constituent name>
• Press enter
• If you’re already logged into RE, it will execute the search and bring up the search results page. If you’re not logged in, it will show you the login page, and then it will execute the search once you’ve entered your credentials.
