Fixed Asset - transition from excel to Financial Edge

Hi We’ve been tracking our fixed assets in Excel, but we’re now looking to transition to Blackbaud Financial Edge. Does anyone have experience with this process? Did you hire a consultant for the implementation?

  • @Sabrina Wong I did this seven years ago or so. No consultant and was working with messed up spreadsheets. But did get it accomplished. This was into database because NXT did not have Fixed Assets at that time. Be careful with Asset ID numbers. The system assigns Asset #s and you assign Asset IDs and some/all of the displays sort by Asset ID numbers instead of Asset #s which didn't work at all for me at the time so I ended up changing them all. And I had over 1,000 assets at the time. I didn't have a need for Department or Location so I use Department for a Capital ID number (that would not work well as an Asset ID) and Location for our GL number so to have more options for sorting. NXT works pretty well except for the Book report which has multiple fields in the same column so I have to fool around with it so I can sort to get lists of Accum. Depreciation and Book Value. Good luck!
